History of Coal Club
In 2001, Capstone Golf Club of Alabama debuted as one of the first architectural masterpiece by Gil Hanse. Garnering widespread acclaim, it was celebrated as one of the finest golf courses in America. Unfortunately, in 2010, Capstone closed, and Gil's remarkable creation was no longer accessible.
Now, Gil Hanse has been given the rare chance to revisit and enhance his masterpiece. The reinvented course will be known as "Coal Club". Situated on extraordinary terrain with sandy soil, the course is built on the site of an abandoned strip mine, providing a unique and dynamic landscape. With 24 additional years of experience, Gil’s reimagining of the Coal Club promises to not only be a testament to his legacy but also an exhilarating destination for golfers everywhere.
